KATE FAIRWEATHER, owner of Design 209, is an architectural designer with 35 years of experience working in the residential and commercial industries. Kate opened the studio in 2012 in response to a growing need for design and construction assistance in the residential renovation market. As a seasoned professional, she has found renovation projects to be an exciting part of the business. Over recent years, she has worked on projects as small as selecting exterior colors resulting in better curb appeal, to redesigning an existing house from top to bottom. No project is too big or too small!

  • Is your home screaming for better curb appeal?
  • Do you want to turn your old home or office in to something new and exciting with just a few changes?
  • Is it lacking usable space that suits your families lifestyle?
  • Do you have a limited budget but want to make changes to the appearance or functionality of your home or office?

Kate’s design niche is to provide the client a more simple response to their project needs. Extensive drawings are often not necessary and can be very expensive. Schematic design sketches may be enough when the contractor needs direction on how to respond to your renovation. Kate can also  help you solve your design challenges by getting to know you and your space. She will sketch available options with you, taking in to account your budget, your style and the level of work that needs to be done to accomplish the desired result. Kate can recommend a contractor to do the work, or work with yours to see the project to finish. Kate can also assist you with sourcing products and will custom design products to fit your needs.
